Hmmm, well apparently episode 8 is Michael-centric and he’s about to be revealed, so its safe to assume that the man on the boat is Michael.
I mean, what better way to re-introduce Michael? There is none.
Confirmed. It is Michael, though now he goes by the name Kevin Johnson. It was pretty obvious it was going to be Michael, though a casual viewer might have been pleasantly surprised.

I’m 99% certain it’s him. But who knows with this show for certain? For all we really know it could be Goodwin. haha.

When Ben talks to Locke about it he makes it sound like he would know the person. So it probably is Michael.
